We’re looking for a Trainee Underwriter to join the MGA TEAM in London or Northampton.
**Here's what you'll be doing**:
- learning about commercial insurance products for our small and medium-sized businesses and landlord audience
- be responsible for case underwriting referrals from the technical team in the contact centre
- help manage the overall portfolio whilst maintaining a profitable book of business
- coach our technical team in our contact centre
- help maintain and grow the MGA by getting involved with projects. Looking to optimise and develop products and processes where possible
- analysing our large losses, identifying trends, and educating the wider team
- collaborate with our claims, compliance, complaints, and contact centre teams where technical underwriting is needed
**We're looking for someone who is**:
- a university graduate in a related field
- inquisitive and looking to develop a career as a commercial and landlord insurance underwriter (previous experience is good, but not essential)
- comfortable reviewing data, analysing trends and presenting findings to stakeholders
- eager to learn, proactive, and willing and take on new challenges
- enthusiastic and able to use good interpersonal skills to build relationships
- supportive in a team and passionate about doing their best and getting the best out of others
- focussed on delivering positive outcomes for customers while also helping us meet our business goals
**A few more details about the role**:
- you’ll start as a trainee but there will be plenty of opportunities to develop and further your career within the team
- there are 5 underwriters and only 16 MGA staff in total, so there will be opportunities to make a positive mark on the business
- a small team also means you will also have meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders and mentors early on in your career
- funding for your CII exams is available and further study is encouraged and supported with dedicated in-work development time
- you’ll be equipped with a Macbook that fully supports hybrid working
