**Job description**:
Primarily presenting in court hearings for contested Liability Orders, Court Orders, County Court Judgements and Enforcement Sanctions. The role will include debt negotiating with off benefit customers in court, when necessary, ensuring the best outcome for each case. You will need to build and maintain relationships with court and tribunal officials as well as Debt Enforcement Case Workers and Case Managers. This may be by phone, video link or by being present in court.
As a team member you will work closely with operational colleagues and external partners such as Solicitors, Policy and Legal Teams. You will be trained in preparing, presenting and completing day to day activities, and, initially, you will be supported at hearings.
On an on-going basis, essential travel will be required by post holders to attend various courts across England and Wales. You will be expected to maximise the use of digital technology to facilitate ‘on line’ attendance at hearings when required.
- Fully prepare for each case by reviewing information, preparing necessary court documents, and liaising with the Case Worker and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Book, serve and present cases to Magistrates and County Courts, providing any further information as required in a professional manner and in line with relevant legislation and procedures.
- Provide a facility for customers to have the opportunity to discuss issues, and, where appropriate, negotiate repayment in accordance with Debt guidance. In addition, having an assertive approach when required, clarifying legislation to aid Magistrates/Judges.
- Following a hearing, complete clear and concise Outcome Reports.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders and attend key meetings.
**Person specification**:
**The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following Key Criteria**:
- You will have a good knowledge and understanding of Legal Enforcement processes including the ability to collate information necessary to build a strong case to present to court **(Lead Criteria).**:
- The ability to work on your own initiative to organise case load activities, being able to re-prioritise within short timescales when required and take responsibility for delivering outcomes timeously and accurately.
- Support the wider team whilst remaining flexible in order to reach a resolution within deadlines.
- Support the delivery of high quality and efficient services across the team, ensuring agreed objectives are met, addressing and analysing complex and difficult issues at pace.
- You have strong communication skills, including a proven ability to present information to different audiences using appropriate delivery styles and managing challenging conversations.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate others is essential to build trust with stakeholders to achieve goals.
- Build, manage and maintain key relationships through effective communication to ensure operational effectiveness.
**Technical Requirements**
- Knowledge of Enforcement Processes, preparing cases and representing in court are desirable.
