Job Title: Food Technologist

Location: Wembley

**Salary**: £30,000 to £35,000 P/A - Pending on experience

Working Pattern - Mon - Friday

Overview

Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Delivery of accurate and up to date food packaging data to fulfil business commitments and legal obligations.
- Work with our product development and procurement teams to implement ingredient changes that enhance or don't impact consumer perceptions, ensuring continuity and efficiency of supply.
- Gain expert knowledge on Raw materials and NPD entering the Business; ensure that HACCP systems and Allergen Management are kept up to date.
- Primarily responsible for managing all artwork and packaging generation to required timescales to facilitate product launches
- Review and sign-off of all specifications in line with business requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure specification data is accurate and completed to required timelines.
- Support development and roll-out of new packaging formats.
- Act as first point of contact for supplier queries
- Complete internal audits to validate data accuracy
- Support environmental manager with collation and reporting of accurate packaging data for robust internal and external reporting.
- Monitor and report on supplier performance
- Auditing suppliers
- Understand and interpret information for non-technical colleagues.
- Bar code generation and validation.
- Responsible for checking pack descriptions, compliant ingredient declarations with nutritional guidelines and labelling legislation.
- Create and maintain physical Packaging Files.
- Developing and maintaining label libraries and providing final approved
- Following a secure formalised protocol for generating and archiving packaging specifications, annual reviews.
- Liaise with dedicated customers to ensure all specification formats and technical documentation are completed against customer timelines.
- Writing and updating the QAS Library, as required.
- Keeping up to date with industry knowledge on new innovations available in the market.

Required Experience
- 4+ years of experience in a food technologist role (ideally for a BRC certified company)
- Excellent understanding of food labelling and declaration (up to date knowledge of food regulations)
- Understanding of food safety and HACCP within a factory and how NPD/EPD can effect this
- Self-motivated and excellent communicator.
- Team player with a flexible and positive approach.
- Assume accountability for their work and deliver to agreed timescales.
- Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Lead by example, have energy and enthusiasm to resolve issues.
