You will be based on client site - Central Manchester with remote / home working opportunities
Infrastructure Engineer: OVERVIEW
To be responsible for the day-to-day operation and longer term planning of onsite infrastructure encompassing: LAN components and liaising with WAN providers; Server, Storage and Print infrastructure; & end user compute.
Ensures the operational platform is delivered at a consistent level to support onsite production as well as some remote workers.
The role holder will manage small infrastructure projects from inception to implementation.
Develop close relationships with key users and to leverage these when defining forward change to ensure alignment with business need. Key users include departmental heads, Production head and shift leads; software development team.
Line manage and support the development of Infrastructure technician, ensuring shift programmes have the necessary support
To liaise with 3rd parties to ensure that workload peaks can be managed and resolve issues covered through support agreement
Role Objectives
- Implement and maintain the site Server infrastructure
- Manage all LAN components including switching, wired and wireless networks; Virtual environments and end user compute estate
- Ensure all equipment is suitably protected with appropriate security control measures
- Own the management of vulnerabilities and all necessary patching
- Maintain and regularly test DR/BCP plans. Support incremental security improvements
- Ensure that users/profiles and licenses are managed in an accurate and timely manner
- Line management of Infrastructure Technician(s)
Infrastructure Engineer: Experience
- Able to demonstrate expertise across LAN/VLAN networking and switch configuration; knowledge of Meraki Wireless solutions would be helpful
- Skilled in the use and deployment of Windows Server and AD; VMWare Svr
- Excellent communication & influencing skills; able to demonstrate successful engagement with customers/suppliers at all levels
- Ability to work to work collaboratively with colleagues and other team members
- Understanding of security controls and Cyber essentials would be advantageous
