We seek an enthusiastic ACP registered psychotherapist to take on a senior role within our adolescent team. The position has a protected psychoanalytic psychotherapy caseload, in a team where psychotherapy is highly valued and respected and will work alongside another band 8 psychotherapist, as well as a band 7 psychotherapist.

You will have excellent therapeutic skills, be flexible in working with young people and be skilled in assessing and managing risk. You will also have an interest in offering supervision to band 7 psychotherapists as well as offering consultation, advice and training to other professionals involved in the child’s care. We have monthly reflective practice, a weekly psychotherapy workshop where team members regularly bring their cases and a number of specialist interest groups such as transgender young people.

You will work with adolescents up to 18 years and their families with significant and acute mental health difficulties. You will provide highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessments and treatment to adolescents. In addition to psychotherapy, the post holder will manage a caseload, working as care coordinator in a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatry, family therapy, psychology, psychotherapy, social work, nursing and occupational therapy.

**The main duties of the role are**:

- To undertake psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessment, treatment and review.
- To undertake generic mental health assessments.
- To undertake risk assessment and management.
- To work with parents and network.
- To provide consultation to colleagues in the service.
- To take part in case discussion and reflective practice with the MDT team.
- To manage the overall care of young people in CAMHS e.g. to devise care plans, be the family’s main point of contact, to offer regular reviews.
- To take part in regular psychotherapy discipline meetings an reflective practice.
- To attend regular supervision meetings and keep CPD and mandatory training up to date.

Key Task and Responsibilities
- To provide efficient, effective, comprehensive and highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytical psychotherapy assessment and treatment for adolescents with severe, highly complex and persistent mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
- To provide highly specialist supervision for band 7 psychotherapists and consultation for multi-disciplinary staff within Bromley CAMHS and to staff of related agencies (health, education, social care, voluntary sector, and youth justice service.)
- To undertake clinical audit, research and evaluation and to contribute to the development of child psychotherapy as required.
- To work autonomously within the overall framework of CAMHS and trust policies and procedures.
- To participate in Directorate wide CPD programme for Child Psychotherapists and attend monthly Child Psychotherapy Directorate meetings.

Clinical
- To provide highly specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessment for adolescents and to make decisions about treatment options taking into account relevant evidence-based research, theory, practice and highly complex factors concerning historical and development processes which have shaped the child/adolescent, their parents/carers and family.
- To provide highly specialist brief, medium or long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adolescents with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems. Often these are young people who have not responded to other forms of specialist treatment and who, it is recognised, need a more
