We are recruiting to our growing team of transport planners at Lancashire County Council. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence the future of transport at a forward-thinking local authority.

This is a diverse role, working closely with other transport planners, engineers and spatial and environmental planners to plan, design and deliver walking, cycling, bus, rail and road schemes across the county.

**About the role**:
With support from the Transport Planning Team Leader, you will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload.

You can expect to be active on a number of projects at any given time - these can vary in both scale and nature, making the workload both interesting and technically challenging. There are opportunities to work on schemes across the spectrum of transport modes and we are keen to enable people to work on projects that suit their interests and support their personal development goals.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone with a passion for transport and a genuine awareness of the current climate change and decarbonisation agenda and the role that transport planning can play in tackling the issues we are facing.

You should have a relevant bachelor's degree (a transport related MSc is desirable) with at least 3 years of experience in either the public or private sector and have a broad understanding of the relevant transport policies and guidance. An understanding of funding mechanisms and procedures (such as business cases) is desirable.

You should have a good working knowledge of some transport planning software (such as SATURN, Aimsun, VISSIM, LinSig, Junctions 9, TEMPro).

You should have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and be able to interpret modelling outputs and explain complicated concepts clearly and succinctly to others. You should also have good report writing skills demonstrate good attention to detail.
