**TITLE OF POST: EMERGENCY RESILIENCE FIRE CREW MEMBER**
**RESPONSIBLE TO: OFFICER IN CHARGE**
**MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB**:To work as part of a team, protecting the community by attending and resolving operational incidents during periods of industrial action.
**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**1. Take responsibility for effective performance**
1.1 Take responsibility for personal performance.
1.2 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with people.
1.3 Develop your own skills to improve your performance.
**2. Save and preserve endangered life**
2.1 Conduct a search to locate life involved in incidents.
2.2 Rescue life involved in incidents.
2.3 Provide treatment to casualties.
2.4 Support people involved in rescue operations.
**3. Resolve operational incidents**
3.1 Control and extinguish fires.
3.2 Support people involved in an operational incident.
3.3 Work with other agencies to resolve operational incidents.
**4. Protect the environment from the effects of hazardous materials**
4.1 Mitigate damage to the environment from hazardous materials.
4.2 Decontaminate people and property affected by hazardous materials.
4.3 Support people involved in hazardous materials incidents.
**5. Support effectiveness of operational response**
5.1 Maintain internal resources by checking, testing and conducting routine maintenance on internal resources.
**6. Support the development of colleagues in the workplace**
6.1 Communicate your own skills and knowledge to colleagues.
6.2 Support development of colleagues.
**7. Drive, manoeuvre and re-deploy fire service vehicles (where applicable)**
7.1 Drive vehicles to incidents (must hold up to date LGV licence).
7.2 Manoeuvre, site and re-deploy vehicles
**8 HEALTH AND SAFETY (GENERAL POLICY)**
8.1 By reference to current health and safety legislation and the Service's
Health and Safety Policy to ensure that all employees:
- Take reasonable care for their own health and safety
- Consider the safety of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions and to cooperate with their employer to perform and comply with any duties or requirements imposed upon them
- Work with machinery, equipment and substances in accordance with information and training provided
- Refrain from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for the purpose of health, safety and welfare
- Report any hazardous defects in plant and equipment, or shortcomings in the existing safety arrangements, to a responsible person without delay
