Centrica Storage Limited (CSL), are recruiting a** Mechanical Technician.**

**Key Accountabilities**
- Technical authority for Systems, Control and Instrumentation discipline, providing support to issues escalated by the asset management and project teams
- Assesses and manages discipline specific risks to ensure the business is not exposed to unacceptable or unmitigated risk
- Sets CSL’s Systems, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Strategy & Standards to support delivery of the CSL business plan
- Set maintenance strategy and guidance within discipline to ensure that operational risk is managed, and equipment is safe to use and fit for purpose
- Assuring adherence to standards within discipline and resolving any deviations to ensure technical risks are managed
- Ensures compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards and guidelines
- Sets company standards, codes of practices and technical policies / procedures in line with industry and Centrica group wide best practices
- Monitors & audits Engineering & Maintenance activities & competence as defined by the OMS to ensure people, legislative, operational, plant environmental & financial risk is managed
- Manages a team of Systems, Control and Instrumentation engineers to deliver technical support to asset and project teams.
- Specify, tender and manage technical service contracts
- Audits all discipline management framework procedures to manage people, legislative, operational, plant, environmental & financial risk
- Works with the projects delivery team to specify, design and manage the optimum technical solution in line with business planning guidance
- A requirement of the role is to provide direct support to CSL’s operated assets. This will involve regular travel to the onshore terminal and offshore asset and will also involve overnight stays on the offshore assets in line with operational priorities
**Health & Safety**
- Ensure CSL’s safety and environmental policies, guidelines and procedures are understood and deployed throughout the Systems, Control and Instrumentation engineering team and individual projects
**Competencies**
- Several years’ experience at a senior level of Systems, Control and Instrumentation engineering within the Oil & Gas or associated major accident hazard process industries on and offshore
- A degree in Systems, Control and Instrumentation engineering is essential or appropriate and relevant experience. Chartered Engineer status is desirable
- A self-starter, the job holder will operate with mínimal guidance and broad direction from the HSES & Engineering Director who, in conjunction, will establish the targets for key areas of work
- Risk management to company standards is a major part of the role. Analysis of Safety, Operational, Financial, Environmental, Legal, Reputation & Plant risk must be carried out. Any identified gaps must be escalated to the Engineering Manager
- Has a good insight into the market and is able to assess the commercial impact of engineering decisions on project attractiveness
- Understands the impact of strategic considerations on business decisions and is able to lead negotiations with contractors
- Leadership of specialists and peer network within own discipline
- Job holder must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate their ability to foster wider relationships within Centrica and wider Oil & Gas industry
- Well-developed planning and organisational ability
- The ability to act with authority, demonstrate leadership skills and retain the confidence of the team
