**Salary**:Scale 4, £26106.00 - £28653.00 per annum plus 12.5% Shift allowance and weekend enhancement

**Hours**: Full time, 37 hours per week

**Contract**:Permanent

**Job Purpose**:
**Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to**:
1. To conduct mobile speed enforcement at sites identified by the SRU as speed or casualty hotspots and other areas of community concern, using type-approved speed detection devices. Whilst conducting speed
enforcement actively identify other serious road traffic offences (Fatal 4), recording sufficient evidence to enable onward processing by way of conditional offer/court proceedings.

2. To conduct pre enforcement checks of road signage at site locations to ensure lawful enforcement can take place. Liaise where necessary with the Traffic Management Team to ensure any deficiency in signing or other factors affecting safety are brought to their immediate attention in order that they can be rectified as soon as practicable. Liaise with the SRU Signs Expert on any issues with regards to speed limit signing as may arise from time to time.

3. To conduct mobile speed enforcement in support of RPU TCG operations as directed by the SRU Manager or Researcher.

4. To make best use of enforcement time by utilizing local knowledge and experience of camera deployment to achieve current site/route priority targets. Maintain accurate records of enforcement time spent at each
site

5. To prepare accurate statements of evidence; log films and ensure continuity of evidence at all times. Attend Court as required in order to provide expert evidence on behalf of the Force, in relation to vehicle speed and the use of technology to corroborate opinion.

6. To represent the SRU at road-shows & other organized events to promote road safety positively and professionally. This could include talking to school children and demonstrating equipment to interested parties.

**Essential Qualifications**:
Educated to QCF Level 2 (3-5) passes OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.

Hold a full current driving licence, including Category B

**Essential Experience**:
Essential Experience:

- Considerable experience in a role involving technical equipment, preferably speed detection and/or photographic.

Desirable Experience:

- Proven knowledge of road traffic legislation & procedure

relating to speed enforcement.
- Proven knowledge and experience in relation to the

preparation of case files, and giving evidence at Court.
- Proven experience in dealing with the public in

confrontational situations.
- An understanding of confidentiality and Data
Protection/Freedom of information issues.
- Previous experience of using databases for administrative

purposes (preferably, at least two years) together with the
willingness and capability to undertake suitable training to
become proficient in the use of departmental software
