About the role
The Health Improvement team based within the Public Health department are seeking to appoint a passionate and driven Public Health Practitioner to continue and lead the development and delivery of a strategic approach to protect public mental health across North Northamptonshire.

The post is offered on a full-time and permanent basis.

What will you be doing?
This important and influential post will lead the continued development and delivery of a high-quality and evidence-based programme of work to effectively prevent, protect and improve the mental health and wellbeing of the residents of North Northamptonshire. The post-holder will play a lead role in the delivery of the Suicide Prevention Action Plan, Mental Health Concordat and wider activity identified via the Mental Health JSNA.

The post-holder will have line management responsibilities of a Public Health Officer that will support the delivery of this key workstream and maximise its impact. Whilst working collaboratively with system-wide partners and stakeholders to ensure efficiencies in delivery, the role will be a key link to maintain the effective data capture, audit and response of the local Real Time Surveillance programme.

The post-holder will be required to confidently lead and shape the programme of work and it is expected that the activities of the role will change over time based on local need, wider activity and available funding to target areas of concern and inequality.

About you
We are looking for somebody who is passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing and somebody who has considerable understanding and experience of suicide prevention. You will be able to communicate and influence at all levels within our own organisation and across the Northamptonshire system and have well-developed skills in stakeholder engagement and management. You will have the ability to work within an evolving portfolio that is complex, requires effective stakeholder management and high-quality partnership work to achieve tangible outcomes via evidence-based practice.
