At My GP Clinic, we have established ourselves as a premier private healthcare provider, offering a wide range of medical services in a state-of-the-art facility. Our clinic is renowned for its personalised approach, ensuring that each patient receives the highest level of care and attention from our expert medical professionals.
The Health Care Assistant will assist healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to patients. Conduct basic health checks, such as measuring vital signs and collecting patient histories. Prepare and maintain examination rooms for patient consultations. Assist in minor medical procedures and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals. Record and update patient information accurately in electronic health records. Assist with appointment scheduling, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks. Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a clean and safe healthcare environment. Ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards. Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and information. Offer support and reassurance to patients during their healthcare visits. Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on patient care
**Responsibilities**:
The HCA will work following direction from the Head of Nursing, in accordance with My GP policy, protocols and standard operating procedures, including the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England. The HCA is accountable for their actions and in a situation where the HCA feels they do not have the necessary skills or ability then they must alert the Registered Practitioner immediately.
- New patient health checks
- Urine testing/analysis
- Blood pressure measurement/monitoring
- ECG
- Height and weight measurement
- Removal of sutures
- Take pathology samples from patients for analysis (blood, sputum, urine etc)
- Wound care and dressings
- Immunisations, including influenza, pneumovax, Shingrix and vitamin B12 under a PSD
- Supporting the practice nurses with the management of chronic disease monitoring
- Chaperoning and assisting with coil fitting.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, ensuring equipment is clean and well-stock
- Accurately record patient information on EMIS clinical system.
- Ensure compliance with practice protocols, policies, and infection control standards.
- Assist in coordinating patient appointments and follow-ups.
- Support clinicians in gathering data for audits or quality improvement initiatives.
- Patient Support, provide a welcoming, compassionate, and professional service to all patients.
- Offer guidance and reassurance during procedures or assessments.
- Ensure patients dignity, privacy, and confidentiality are respected at all times.
**Effective Communication**:
- To communicate effectively with individuals, their families, carers and health/social care practitioners using a range of styles and always keeping information confidential.
- Handle (record, report and store) information related to individuals in line with local and national policies.
- To help maintain good communication, liaison and working arrangements with NHS Trusts and other agencies
**Education and Development**:
- To participate in the induction of new colleagues and contribute to staff orientation programmes
- Through appraisal and personal development plan, identify own personal training. needs to meet both professional and organisational objectives.
- To undertake any necessary skills training, professional updates and mandatory training as appropriate to the post and as directed.
- Take responsibility for, prioritise and reflect on own actions, behaviour and work.
- Work as part of a team, seeking help and guidance if unsure.
- Follow the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.
**Working Environment**:
The post holder may be regularly exposed to a variety of hazards depending on their area of work.
The post holder must work within the Companies manual handling policy.
