We are looking for an Environment and Sustainability Specialist to work within our Business Area Wind, in the offshore market and focusing on all phases of offshore windfarm development, construction and operation.

You will work within the Environment & Sustainability Unit, reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager of the “Projects and Operations & Maintenance” support Unit. In this role, you will provide environmental and sustainability support for our offshore assets during the development, construction and operational phases. Support will focus primarily around offshore wind in the UK, with some work potentially focusing in other countries as the need emerges. While some travel may be required, this is a UK-based role.

You will support our windfarms to be managed in accordance with legal, permit and Vattenfall environmental requirements, and strive for operational excellence. You will co-ordinate with interdisciplinary teams and other Environment and Sustainability Specialists working in our key markets, and deliver a structured and systematic approach to taking environmental and sustainability aspects into account.

As the Environment and Sustainability Specialist you take the responsibility for managing and assuring compliance of the environmental aspects and impacts of Vattenfall’s wind generation assets. As such, in this role your main tasks will be to:

- Assure that Vattenfall’s wind generation assets are constructed and operated in compliance with environmental legislation and in line with Vattenfall’s BA Wind environmental policies and ambitions;
- Conduct project site inspections to_ _monitor and audit contractors, to assure that legislative environmental requirements, industry standards and BA Wind expectations are upheld in all areas and through all phases of the projects;
- Develop project specific environmental management documents and implement these at a project level in accordance with Vattenfall’s organisational environmental management system;
- Review and approve contractor environment and sustainability management and performance documentation;
- Provide compliance, technical and reporting support on environmental matters to Vattenfall’s project management and contractor project teams;
- Liaise with and support the consenting teams, as well as engaging with and reporting to authorities as required;
- Report, investigate and evaluate all environmental events and, if necessary or required, develop, implement and close remedial actions from environmental events in an appropriate timeframe;
- Participate in and support the project Emergency Response Team and initiate and manage environmental emergency response when required; and,
- Manage and maintain the project environmental related records and documentation.

Performance and improvement
- Create environmental awareness at project level through developing, performing and conducting environmental trainings and drills;
- Provide toolbox talks to contractors on a frequent basis regarding key environmental topics;
- Provide environmental input in contracting and due diligence;
- Manage and further develop systematic ways of working with environmental topics;
- Coordinate and assist with the overall Environmental strategy for BA Wind; and
- Ensure environmental and sustainability lessons learned are captured and communicated within Vattenfall’s Environment and Sustainability Unit and other BA Wind projects.

Working as a team
- Work in close cooperation with the specific Consenting & Health & Safety specialist and interdisciplinary site teams;
- Work together with other specialists inside and outside your own work area such as technical disciplines and environmental consultants; and
- Work in close cooperation with our internal Bioscience experts

As an Environment and Sustainability Specialist you will be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about environmental and sustainability topics. You have organizational, analytical and time management skills.

**Profile**:
Your qualifications and personal skills as Environment and Sustainability Specialist:

- Hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science;
- Relevant work experience in offshore construction and/or operational control;
- Knowledge and understanding of the renewables/wind industry;
- Familiarity with environmental management systems;
- Understanding of UK licencing/permitting & consenting regimes and knowledge of the UK Legislation and Guidelines related to environment;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are fluent in English (written and spoken), and are a UK resident;
- Willingness to travel and have a full EU or UK driving license.
