As Senior Gardener you'll support the head gardener and team to ensure high standards of horticulture are maintained. As part of the Senior Gardens Leadership team you will manage and develop the beautiful surroundings that make Cliveden one of the top visited properties that delights our visitors.

What it's like to work here:Cliveden’s Italianate mansion, riverside setting and family-friendly events draw visitors all year round, making this property a busy location with a wide range of opportunities. There is always plenty to do at the 375-acre estate, with conservation of the South Terrace among recent projects. The Cliveden team are close-knit with a wonderful sense of community and take pride in presenting the property the best way we can for our visitors.

There are a series of impressive formal gardens with far-reaching views, an abundance of bedding changes throughout the seasons and an intimate Rose Garden for those wanting a little bit of peace and tranquility.

What you'll be doing:You’ll love working outdoors and understand that our gardens and grounds are as significant as our mansion houses, collections and our historical places. Our visitors tell us how much they enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our well-kept outdoor spaces, which makes your role vital in making sure our visitors have an amazing experience.

We don’t just need you to manage our beautiful gardens, although this is an important part of the role; we’d like you to help manage the team too. As the Senior Gardener in our team, we’d like you to lead by example, with exceptional gardening skills, but you’ll also understand how to manage the workload for this team, and deliver exceptional training to new staff and volunteers.

- Who we're looking forSignificant practical experience in horticulture as well as a strong knowledge of plants and care
- Trained as a professional gardener/horticulturalist, supported by relevant qualifications
- You’ll be passionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the wide range of plants at Cliveden
- Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance including pedestrian mowers, ride on mowers and a range of 2-stroke garden machinery
- Some supervisory experience
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and practice
