**The Company**
The Institute for the Future of Work (IFOW) is shaping a fairer future through better work. We are an independent research and development institute that explores the changing world of work and builds practical solutions to help people thrive.
We are now looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing, one of the major projects currently being undertaken by the Institute. This is a full-time role for a two year, fixed term contract.
**The Benefits**:
- Salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
- 28 days’ leave per year plus three days shutdown over the Christmas period

You will make your mark on national policy-making and work within a team led by a Nobel Laureate, Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides, making this a rare and exciting role.
**The Role**
As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, you will join our multi-disciplinary review exploring the impacts of technological disruption on people and communities across the country.
You will lead the Local Area Survey workstream of the Review which looks at the impacts of automation and the capabilities of workers.
The key research questions that this work will address include: What are the impacts of technological transformation on work and wellbeing across the UK? How do the work and wellbeing outcomes compare for groups living in labour markets characterised by differentlevels of disruption and automation? How are employment specific capabilities distributed across people of different demographics - and how are these related to wider wellbeing outcomes? What is the relationship between technological change/automation impactand capabilities?
Your key responsibility will be to design and conduct primary research, writing and editing research papers and non-technical reports.
You will also:
- Follow established research ethics practices and procedures for data collection
- Attend external meetings on behalf of the Institute
- Develop working relationships with organisations and individuals relevant to your work
- Assist with the delivery of communications and engagement activities
**About You**
To be considered as a Post-Doctoral Researcher, you will have:
- A PhD or equivalent research in a relevant field such as Economics, Health Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy, Psychology, or Development Studies
- Experience with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research techniques
- An interest in, and commitment to, research into the future of work
- Excellent writing and communicating skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Knowledge of public policy issues, especially in the area of work and wellbeing
- The ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders and confident in managing relationships with senior researchers
- A collaborative approach to research and thinking, and a good team player.
