We are looking for a person with an understanding of agriculture and/or regulation to join a frontline team working directly to help create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment in North East Area.
- In this role, you will visit farms in the North East, investigating their operation and management to ensure they are meeting the standards set by environmental regulations and so reducing the risk of pollution. As part of Project TARA you will also be working on a national project Testing Approaches to Regulation and will take part in trialling some innovative techniques to regulation and will be encouraged to come up with your ideas.
- You will engage with farmers, advising them how to comply with relevant environmental legislation and signposting them to available funding for improvements. This will sometimes involve difficult or challenging conversations. Where necessary you will take action to compel farmers to make improvements.

The team
- You will part of a team based in the North-East who deal with Agriculture issues. You will focus on targeted farm inspections to improve farmer behaviours with respect to the environment.
- You will be part of an operational team that is integral to delivering environmental improvements.
- You will have the support of local and national Agriculture specialist technical advisors.
- The Environment Agency works to create better places for people and wildlife and support sustainable development.

Experience/skills required- Have knowledge of UK agriculture
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to have difficult conversations.
- Are able to effectively plan and manage their own workload
- Are passionate about delivering environmental improvement
- Can manage complex technical information
- Have basic IT skills, including Word and Excel- Have a full UK Driving Licence, We will provide a vehicle for your use at work

We will provide full training, ongoing technical development and mentoring.
