Bureau Veritas, a leading Commodity Inspection Company, is offering someone the opportunity to train to become a Petroleum Cargo Inspector at our Bromborough, Wirral facility. The primary role entails the measurement of petroleum products, for quantity and quality, as they are transferred between sea going ships and shore based terminals/refinery installations. Full training will be given. Location: Wirral, Merseyside. Key Accountabilities: - To carry out Cargo Inspection of all Oil and Petrochemical commodities, from Crude Oil through Petroleum Products and Chemicals to Petroleum Gases. - To perform all duties in accordance with client requirements, Bureau Veritas and Industry standards. - To ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with all company and third party site HSE requirements. - To perform analysis of relevant "Key Test" analysis on samples of commodities obtained during the inspection. - To witness analysis of the commodity in third party laboratories if required. - To liaise and coordinate with terminal and ship personnel to promote the smooth operation of duties assigned. - To ensure timely and accurate reporting of all Inspection findings. - To promote and represent the company at all times in a professional manner. - To work towards and obtain an IFIA Petroleum Inspector Certification. - GCSE maths and English, grade C and above, with a chemistry qualification an advantage (although not necessary). - Full clean driving licence. - Computer literate, Word and Excel. - Be prepared to work unsocial and unscheduled hours including weekends and Bank Holidays in line with shipping movements which are 24/7-365 days a year. - Be comfortable with the physical demands of the job, including being prepared to work outdoors, at heights and in confined spaces. - Have good communication skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels. - Be self-motivated with an inquisitive nature and have an eye for detail. - Be able to work independently with mínimal supervision, or as part of a team. Desirable Experience: - Experience of working in the Oil and Petrochemical industry in any of the following fields: - Inspection - Product storage and handling facilities - Shipping Benefits and Remuneration: - Salary is consolidated and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. - A company car is provided.
