We are recruiting for a **PRU Mentor** for an inclusive, welcoming & supportive Primary Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Manchester.

About the role:

- PRU Teaching Assistant for a Primary PRU in the Manchester area.
- Full time hours 8:30am-3:30pm each day
- Starting ASAP.
- Pay up to £90/day.
- Will go on to contract for the right person.
- Pupils are all aged 5-11 with EHCPs for Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, SEMH, as well as associated needs such as Autism, ADHD and SpLD.
- As their new PRU Mentor you will need to be resilient and be able to persevere through difficult situations.
- You will also need to build relationships with pupils quickly while being able to set clear boundaries using a consistent, fair, honest & engaging approach.
- Ideally you will have some previous experience as one of the following: Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, PRU Teaching Assistant, PRU Mentor, Youth Worker, Pastoral Support Worker, Psychology graduate, Counsellor, Sports Coach or Residential Support Worker.

About the school:

- Primary Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Manchester.
- Broad curriculum based on childrens' needs and interests including vocational learning.
- Lessons take place in small groups of no more than 8 pupils.
- Supportive management with a supportive and welcoming environment.
- Focus on safety and inclusion for staff and pupils.
- Child centred approach.
- Focus on de-escalation and preventative methods and strategies.

About the pupils:

- All pupils are aged 5-11.
- Pupils all have a EHCP for SEMH or associated needs including ADHD or Autism.
- Some pupils require 1:1 pastoral support at times to help manage their emotions & behaviour.
- Many from very vulnerable backgrounds.
- High proportions of LAC.
- Some pupils can display verbal or physical challenging behaviours so any PRU Mentor in this role will need strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
