Research Assistant

The post holder will work as a member of the research team on the RAPID NIHR programme grant led by Professor Tony Morrison. The trial will compare a safety planning intervention delivered by assistant psychologists with a semi-structured peer support intervention and with a smartphone app designed to help people manage suicidal thoughts. All interventions will be compared with treatment as usual from a home-based treatment team. We will conduct this research across 5 areas in the UK (Manchester, East London, Glasgow, North East London and Oxford). The North East London (NELFT) site lead is Dr Lisa Wood.
The post holder will be involved in a range of protocol-based research activities with research participants which include, but are not limited to; recruitment, data collection (qualitative and quantitative), data entry and updating and securely maintaining participant files.
The post will provide clinical experience in engaging individuals at crisis; clinical assessment; NHS secondary mental health services; and clinical trials methodology. The post would suit individuals interested in going on to pursue a career in clinical psychology or clinical research.

Probationary Period
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177).
