This advert is open both Internal and External applicants.

We are looking to recruit two temporary, part-time EHO posts, for a minimum of 12 months, with the potential for up to 18 months. Both roles are within Public Protection (Environmental Health & Trading Standards), working flexible hours to suit business needs, usually Monday to Friday, based at the Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 1HH with provisions for remote/home working.

Ideally starting as soon as possible, this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team in a Unitary Authority, handling a wide range of environmental health functions and making a difference to everyone who lives in, works in and visits Stoke-on-Trent.

Reporting to the Environmental Health Manager, and working within an experiencedteam, you will be responsible for undertaking city-wide inspections, investigations, enforcement and advice, with an expectation to assist in other workstreams and take an active part in Public Protection service projects as required.

One of the posts is to support environmental protection and pollution control related duties and the other is to specialise in food safety and health and safety functions. Consideration may be given to appointing one person on a full-time basis if they have appropriate multi-disciplinary experience to cover both vacancies. You should possess, or be working towards a relevant degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health.

Evidence of experience, continuous professional development, knowledge of current legislation and processes relating to environmental health is desirable.

You will be expected to have effective communication and customer service skills, plus the ability to manage your own time and workload in order to meet targets and deadlines.

Preferably, you will hold a full driving licence, be willing to work flexibly as directed and able to demonstrate a commitment to continually deliver high service standards.

Salary will be Level 11 and leave entitlement will be calculated in line with corporate policy and relevant time worked within local government.
