The Systems Design Engineer designs a complete and complex framework, system or product and defines processes for technical platforms. This includes working with stakeholders and implementation of products, features and technologies.

General Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership within a cross functional team
- Working closely with customer technical and project personnel
- Handles both external and internal stakeholder requirements for new products / features / technology developments
- Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
- Develops system specifications and formalized representations of solutions (for example, flow charts, models) to develop systems that meet customer needs
- Systems Architecture development with roadmaps to increase feature sets, reduce cost, pursue integration opportunities and increase quality
- Leads internal Sensata sub system design teams to refine implementation of products / features / technologies & specifications to ensure they meet stakeholder’s needs

Experience / Qualifications
- A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
- Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
- Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
- Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Essential Criteria
- Proven experience with eliciting external and internal stakeholder requirements for new products, features & technology developments. Product Owner role experience an advantage.
- Experience with Algorithm development and modelling of system level behaviour for new functionality.
- Experience of developing system level test and integration tools for use in proving grounds, prototyping and on varied test environments.

Desired Criteria:

- Experience in development of embedded systems for wireless communication, including IEEE 802.15.4, Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
- Knowledge of IPv6, TLS, TCP/IP, UDP and Network Security.
- Experience with cyber security development and analysis for new products and systems.
- Knowledge of UDS ISO14229 diagnostic services.
- Automotive CAN bus experience. J1939 an advantage.
- Use of CAN tools such as CANoe and CANdela Studio.
- Experience in the use of JIRA, Jama or other Agile and Requirements Management Tools.
- Experience of dealing with customers.
