**What is a Volunteer Reception Assistant?**

Many people have never visited a hospice before and can often be unsure what to expect, so a friendly smile and a warm welcome is always top of the list for our reception teams.

Volunteers supporting the Reception Teams are multi-tasking superstars, as no day is ever the same.

Experience of working within a reception is not essential, it’s more important to us that you are keen to make a difference and enjoy working as part of a team.

**What’s involved?**
- Making everyone feel welcome and special at the hospice
- Keeping the reception area inviting and tidy
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with enquiries
- Accept donations ensuring all the necessary paperwork is completed
- Taking cash and card payments for items purchased in the reception shop
- Distributing incoming and arrange outgoing mail

**This role will suit people who are**. passionate about Derian House and making a difference to our Children and their families by being cheerful and making every visitor feel special. You will be someone who is very friendly, and is willing to provide a regular weekly commitment. We really value kindness, honesty, integrity and reliability in our volunteers & staff and in return we will do our best to provide you with a rewarding volunteer experience.

**Available Reception Slots**:
Tuesday 12noon to 4.30pm

Thursday 8.30am to 12noon or 12noon to 4.30pm

**Training**:
Full site induction and mandatory annual training will be provided

**Checks Required**:
Standard DBS check and two references

**Age Restrictions**:
Volunteers must be aged 16 years+

**Expenses**:
Free lunch will be provided on site
