Senior Information Analyst

JOB SUMMARY
To provide and develop comprehensive performance management, database interrogation and analytical information services that meet current and future needs. The Senior Information Analyst will join the Integrated Intelligence & Improvement Service and workclosely with the lead analyst on the provision of timely and relevant analysis, modelling, and database interrogation.
KEY DUTIES
- To provide analysis, modelling, and interpretation.
- To communicate the conclusions drawn from complex analysis undertaken and to offer advice on the implications of the results.
- To provide business and operational information and performance monitoring reports.
- To assist the lead analyst in providing expert advice to help managers interpret and analyse data.
- To ensure high quality and accuracy of all analyses and report presentations.
- Manage data using SQL and develop complex reports in Power BI.
- To contribute to the scheduled production of activity analysis and information for inclusion within Board reports, developing the content and format in response to changing organisational requirements.
- To provide performance management information showing achievements against the NHS Operating Framework
- Ensure all statutory activity data are collected, collated, validated, quality assured and submitted.
- To assist the lead analyst to provide expert advice and support on data availability, data definitions and data validity.
- To work with other information staff to monitor data quality and identify areas that require improvement; to escalate data quality issues as appropriate to the Data Quality team and contribute to improving data quality as required.
- To undertake complex ad hoc requests and validate other ad hoc requests undertaken by other staff.
- To advise, as appropriate, on changes to national data sets or definitions and recording of information to communicate such changes to senior staff, so that appropriate action can be taken.
- Ensure confidentiality of data at all times, by awareness and compliance with existing legislation and good practice, for example, Data Protection Act 1998; Caldicott principles and recommendations; local policies and procedures.
ADMIN REQUIREMENTS
- To deputise for the lead analyst, as appropriate, and in agreement with the lead analyst.
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a small team of Information and Assistant Information Analysts.
- To carry out yearly appraisals for direct reports and review progress every 6 months.
- To arrange regular meetings with the Information Analyst and Assistant Information Analyst to communicate workload, and priorities and to discuss any other issues.
- To implement new ways of working, introduced by senior staff, and cascade these to junior staff.
- To ensure documentation of working procedures for routine, statutory and ad-hoc reports. Documentation is to be regularly updated and accessible to appropriate staff at all times.
