Support Worker Required for 10 Hours/week in

Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

This post requires the post holder to be fully (or partially) vaccinated against Covid-19, unless clinically exempt.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Blackburn.
- Who do you support?_
The gentleman is very independent and has full capacity to make all his decisions. He is very intelligent and has a keen interest in tech and computers.
- Where do they live?_
The service is a one bedroomed ground floor flat.
- What would a typical shift be like?_
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
The gentleman enjoys most things tech related and has built his own p.c and made his home smart. He likes debating with staff about current affairs, going for walks in his local community, walking around town, shopping. He wishes to attend tech conventions, college/uni, seek employment whether with a company or self employed.

Someone who can drive is essential. Interested in computers, gaming but not essential. Someone who is laid back, not too intrusive, easy going with a good sense of humor
- What is the team here or is it lone-working?_
You will be lone working when you have completed your training but will have access to the team leader to answer questions, etc.
- What are your shift patterns?_
Monday 11-2 Wednesday 10.30-14.30 Friday 11-2 Flexibility will be needed for appointments, activities etc but plenty of notice will be given.
- Please note our Support Workers are contracted by area therefore flexibility is essential to work in other services where required._
