The Neurosurgery team at King’s College Hospital have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking person to join our MDT team. As a Skull Base MDT coordinator, you will provide essential support to the MDT, through the organisation of meetings and coordination of Skull Base patients' pathways. This is a role with lots of variety and ad hoc demands and requires excellent time management and planning skills.
The post holder will work as part of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to coordinate the administrative pathway of skull base patients to ensure there is effective cooperation between departments involved in the delivery of skull base services and to ensure that the cancer waiting time targets are achieved.
The post-holder will provide a point of contact for patients and MDT members and will be involved in facilitating service improvement to streamline the patient journey and improve the quality of patient care. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining information systems in line with Trust strategy and for the accurate recording and reporting of clinical and performance data.
The role will involve working with a range of staff across the entire organisation particularly in the Neurosciences Department.
Multidisciplinary Team Co-ordination
To attend and ensure the smooth running of the MDT.
To book and co-ordinate investigations, inpatient admissions, outpatient appointments and external referrals for all patients.
To ensure that all investigation results are received and all results reviewed by the appropriate clinicians in liaison with the Nurse Specialists.
To link and liaise with all members of the MDT i.e. Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Neuro-Imaging, Neuropathology Departments and Consultants secretaries.
To be a focal point of communication from referral to follow-up ensuring patients and referrers are kept informed of investigations, appointments and treatment plans.
To co-ordinate and prepare clinical information sheets for the weekly and monthly Multidisciplinary Clinics and meetings, liaising with team members and other departments in the trust and ensuring all scans and results are available. To prepare and distribute the relevant information and action outcomes from the above meetings.
To manage and co-ordinate outpatient appointments and referrals for both new and follow up patients.
To assist in locating and copying of patients scans and letters for patients being referred externally.
To work closely with the Skull Base Clinical Nurse Specialist.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and proactive part-time Neurosurgery Skull Base Co-ordinator to join our busy Neurosurgery department here at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill. The post holder will be expected to exercise initiative, prioritise conflicting work demands, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the consultants, internal and external colleagues to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care. The post holder will also carry out a wide and varied range of duties within the Skull Base team. You must possess the skills to work within a team or on your own and be able to deal with high pressure situations. The post holder must have a commitment to supporting the service, be actively involved with cross cover and have a flexible approach to the role.
You must possess excellent IT skills and have an understanding of the NHS referral pathway. The post holder will be working closely with the Skull Base team and CNS nurses.
