This position involves face to face interaction with the public covering a broad area across Newcastle City Centre and involves a lot of walking.
The ability to engage with all members of the public along with the Police and local businesses on a day-to-day basis is an important part of the role.
**YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE**:
- To conduct high profile uniformed patrols of the city centre, providing confidence to local businesses and the general public, both residents and visitors alike.
- Work as part of a team with a common interest in promoting the positive aspects of our city in the knowledge that your presence will become a positive focal point to those looking for assistance and advice.
- Maintaining a visible presence in areas where anti-social behaviour is impacting on the image of Newcastle and discouraging this behaviour alongside Northumbria Police and Newcastle City Council.
- Actively support the mission statement and purpose of the NE1 BID by encouraging the Meet and Greet of members of the public and tourists and providing assistance when required.
- Provide support to other local agencies including Northumbria Police and Newcastle City Council.
- Observe and report any acts of anti-social behaviour as well as responding to calls from businesses to tackle issues associated with members of the street community who may congregate close to business entrances.
- Reporting of any defects or issues associated with street paving and street furniture along with any other related issues such as graffiti and fly tipping to the local council.
- Reporting the recovery or discovery of any offensive weapons to the Police including any sharps and needles found following positive engagement with the local clean team.
- Communicate with local businesses with regards to the movements and locations of problematic persons within the NE1 BID area in order to allow the appropriate response from our partners.
**YOU SHOULD HAVE THE ABILITY TO**:
- Operate well under pressure when required to do so.
- Demonstrate clear problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- To work on your own or as part of a team.
- Communicate in a professional manner with the ability to adjust your style of communication to meet your audience.
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

**WORKING HOURS**: 37.5 hrs per week over 5 days including weekends, on a 4-week roster usually between the hrs of 8am and 8:30pm.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £19,100.00 per year
