Support some of West Sussex most vulnerable children in becoming the best version of themselves.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their supportive and motivated team.
This would suit someone looking to make the move from a nursery role to one with older children or someone who is looking at furthering a future career path of; Support worker, child psycologist or probation officer.
The school is based in East Grinstead and provides support for children aged 5-11 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional and mental health challenges. The key is to deliver personal and life skills, through a restorativemethod.
Working in a class based environment to support some of the most vulnerable children in West Sussex, who have been through significant trauma. Giving pupils skills to allow them to gain independence and aiming to ensure they do not enter the criminal justicesystem. This role is about supporting, guiding and showing them a new way to embrace learning, to value education and preparing them for life out of school.
It is important to understand, where the children are coming from and what traumas they have been through. The importance of clear objectives being set for them, making them feel valued within themselves and within their school environment.
Children in the school present with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) often struggling to manage their emotions and behaviour and as a result, they find it difficult to make and sustain relationships with adults and peers. These difficultiesmay present as withdrawal and isolation, as well as challenging, disruptive or other concerning behaviour. These children often struggle to engage in a learning environment, frequently display inappropriate behaviour and therefore benefit from additional supportin order to achieve their potential.
- 5 days a week, working 1:1 and in small groups within the classroom
- Teamwork is hugely important to this role working with your fellow class teacher

- Ongoing career support from your dedicated consultant
- You will gain highly sought after experience in the fields of, teaching, youth work and probation services
