**Job summary**:
In this role, you will join colleagues in the Employee Experience Team with overarching responsibility to provide project management expertise in a variety of disciplines including project planning and maintenance, supporting governance and assurance, risk management and dependency management. The role also includes the development and maintenance of a portfolio framework, and associated products and guidance, the sharing of best practice and insights gathered from successes and ‘learning experiences’ across the portfolio.
As a member of the Employee Experience team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues within your own team, senior leaders across DWP, the HR function and wider Civil Service, including Government People Group to ensure alignment to the wider Civil Service strategic aims and people agenda.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop our Employee Experience strategic ambitions and deliverables for the next 5 years and design our team and operating structure to underpin that.
**Job description**:
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Supporting the Head of PMO to ensure successful delivery of key milestones to the required quality and to the timescales agreed within the project plan.
- Collaborate effectively across teams and organisational boundaries to support team goals and priorities.
- Supporting the Employee Experience Steering Group with a programmatic approach
- Identify and monitor employee experience programme risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
- Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
- Support effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.
- Engage with assurance reviews and support action on recommendations.
- Develop and maintain project plans using waterfall/agile tools and techniques. Identify and set appropriate project controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors.
- Support the change plan for the project and provide input into the overall Programme/Portfolio/Transformation Plan.
- Create and maintain the stakeholder engagement strategy, plan and build partnerships while having effective working relationships with DWP’s key stakeholders.
- Line management responsibilities may be part of the role, providing staff with stretch and development.
**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**:
- Proven experience of leading development and maintenance of project plans in a large enterprise environment. Experienced in selecting appropriate delivery methodology, setting project controls, managing performance and reporting progress to senior leadership **(Lead Criteria)**:
- Experience in identifying and monitoring project risks and issues, developing mitigating actions and escalating as appropriate. Ability to identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, collaborating across organisational boundaries
- Experienced and skilled in managing, analysing and interpreting data, creating digestible and actionable reports for senior stakeholders, after carefully considering alternative options, implications and risks of decisions.
- Having strong experience of working with a broad and complex range of stakeholders, with the confidence to engage with senior officials. Demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to tailor your approach to suit the audience and situation.
- Understanding of PMO tooling such as Planner, Miro, Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Office
**Qualifications**:
Hold a Practitioner level qualification in Project or Programme Management, for example, APMP, MSP, PRINCE 2, or be currently working towards this.
