The Underwriter role is mainly to responsible for underwriting existing business (commercial insurance) and managing brokers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Contribute to the financial and underwriting performance of the Company and overall profitability of the business.
- Underwrite for existing cases and contribute to loss ratio control by adhering to Company’s underwriting controls.
- Identify reasons for lack of retention and poor conversion to take actions to increase retention and implement actions agreed with brokers to improve account performance.
- Liaise with external specialists including surveyors and loss adjusters etc to update our own underwriting strategy.
- Manage and recruit brokers and cover-holders in the area and build effective trading relationships with brokers through trading activities.
- Monitor agency performance and compliance and produce monthly brokers’ performance results.
- Review existing arrangement and underwriting guide to make sure the brokers to deliver desired performance.
- Provide quotes, issue documents, respond to inquiries and offer underwriting referral support to the binding brokers.
- Assist to review policy wordings, agency contracts, underwriting guide, rating structures, or other business terms, endorsements and documentations when required.
- Liaise with other departments of the Company and undertake other tasks when necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Strong commercial underwriting experiences, especially in home, office, SME, and liability insurances.
- Ability to drive income and broker penetration to achieve business targets set.
- Good knowledge of general insurance, underwriting procedures and insurance legislations.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and customer engagement skills.
- Excellent organisation and co-ordination skills.
- Relevant CII qualification is preferable.
