Technical Support Officer

PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide the efficient and effective delivery of operational and administrative support to the Service Area across a range of specialist and statutory functions including but not limited to the provision of Trading Standards, Environmental Health, Licensing and Bereavement services.
To provide a full License processing, administrative and finance monitoring function for the service area.
To maximise the use of IT systems for the benefit of the Service Area and customers.
To partner with the Team, Service Area, Division and other Council partners to achieve service area outcomes.
To make a positive contribution to the development and delivery of a first class customer focused service.
To support the Principal Technical Support Officer and Senior Technical
Support Officers in undertaking the Council's duties under the Social Care Act 2016 ( formally Section 48 of the National Assistance Act 1984 and Section 46 of the Public Health Control of Diseases Act 1984.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Implement administrative support processes that provide improved services to customers and efficient and effective processes to the Service Area
- Maximise the operational effectiveness of IT systems including: electronic document management I archive systems and associated procedures, back office systems; graphical information systems (GIS) aligned to the Licensing database; web related systems and web information.
- Support the delivery of a high quality front-line customer focused service.
- Provide administrative support for Environmental Health (Including but not limited to Food Safety, Bereavement and Environmental Protection), Trading Standards and Licensing.
- Take initial action upon receipt of a Temporary Event Notice/Licensing Applications by checking databases and initially assessing the suitability or any possible grounds for objection.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of:
- operational and administrative office duties associated to regulatory service provision,
- IT software, specifically Microsoft, Capacity to comprehend and make best use of new and developing IT systems.
