We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Health Care Assistants to join our team, helping to provide the best in dedicated care at our wonderful 46 bed, Nursing and Residential Care Home in Brockenhurst village, close to the train station.

Working within a supportive team, you will be helping to provide the best possible, person-centred care to our elderly residents to help them feel right at home, whilst ensuring to help maintain their independence, dignity and, above all, control of their own lives.

**What we are looking for**:

- Experience working as Health Care Assistant (previous experience in a Senior HCA role is preferred but not essential as full training and support will be provided)
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care Work would be beneficial but not essential
- Caring and compassionate personality, with a passion to help others in a safe manner
- Initiative to work alone but also a team player
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written

**Responsibilities**:

- Medication Management - (training provided)
- Working alongside the RGN to manage the team of HCA’s, ensuring allocations are confirmed, considering the teams abilities and skills, ensuring the best care is provided across the home
- Provide effective day to day supervision and management of care staff, also providing regular supervisions for all care staff in your team
- Helping with mentoring and coaching new members of the team
- You will assist the RN to assess, plan, implement and monitor care in line with CQC guidelines and the homes guidelines
- Assisting the RN and Deputy Manager to complete, review person centred care plans to involve residents and others involved in their care
- Competently assessing residents on a daily basis to recognise any deterioration in clinical conditions of a resident by monitoring Blood Pressure, Temperature, Height and weight, Pulse rate and rhythm, understanding of Blood glucose, fluid charts, obtaining urinalysis and specimens
- Competently administrating medication in line with the NICE guidance, basic knowledge and understanding of medication and how it works
- Ensure relevant handovers are carried out for all staff taking into account different shift patterns to ensure that staff are kept up to date with any changes in a resident’s condition
- Report and record all complaints correctly and promptly directly to the Home Manager or Deputy Manager
- Communicate effectively with staff, residents and their families and visiting professionals within the limits of competency and confidentiality
- Accurately record and maintain resident records, including risk assessments, daily notes and care plans ensuring compliance with CQC, relevant legislation, and in line with Wilverley policies and procedures
- Complete audits when required for inclusion in the home managers key performance indicators reports
- Actively discussing and encouraging residents to participate in the lifestyle activities programme, as well as spending one to one time with residents where possible, for example, reading or enjoying a cup of tea together
