The Strategy and Communications team provide leadership, management and delivery of key Council functions, including corporate policy development, performance management and communications & engagement activity inside & outside the Council.

We are looking for an experienced and visionary policy and performance professional who is a committed and energetic leader to be our Head of Policy and Performance.

Working with colleagues across the Council’s services and functions, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Council’s approach to policy and strategy development and performance management.

As Head of Policy & Performance, you will support the Director of Strategy and Communications, working across all services to deliver key policy, strategy and performance activities.

**Your Day-to-Day**
- With Members and senior officers, leading on the development of corporate policy and strategy for the organisation
- Horizon scanning national and regional policy to understand impacts on local policy
- Representing the Council at local, regional and national levels, promoting partnership working across the region and helping to shape national and regional policy
- Translating the Council’s vision into practical and achievable plans
- Supporting the Council’s Members, Chief Executive and Director of Strategy and Communications on policy formulation and review to monitor progress and impact
- Ensuring that all duties and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Council’s Constitution, governance arrangements, policies and procedures.

**You are**
- An organised vibrant leader who can model and demonstrate organisational values & leadership behaviours
- Proven to be successful working in a large and complex organisation with demonstrable experience of devising effective strategies and policies which improve performance
- Experienced working in a political environment
- Experienced in designing and managing Performance Frameworks which allow for robust scrutiny
- Successful in the development of positive external relationships and influential partnerships
- An adept communicator who communicates with clarity, conviction & enthusiasm and can demonstrate integrity, create rapport, and build trust & confidence to positively influence outcomes.
