**The Role Itself and the Duties Involved**

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Maintenance department for a Painter and Decorator apprentice. The role itself is a permanent position and you will be expected to work 40 hours, per 5 day working week.

**Main Duties Include**:

- The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:_
- Carry out regular inspections of all areas within the property and restore surface finishes where required.
- Assist in preventative and reactive maintenance, as detailed.
- Ensure that all work is carried out professionally, and the area left safe, clean and tidy.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in line with Marriott procedures and standards.
- Ensure that all work is carried out to Health & Safety specifications, both legislative and Marriott.
- Attend to, or report any defects, or Health & Safety matters brought to your attention.
- Maintain a written record of all maintenance work, ensuring that all details are clear and accurate.
- Work to a shift rota system, to provide coverage as required by the hotel.
- To be aware of the facilities, and have sound facilities knowledge of the hotel
- To actively take part in all training sessions.
- To actively take part in all energy management and conservation issues.
- To ensure that spares and combustibles are kept secure, and met all Health & Safety requirements, and to keep all stock levels to correct amounts.
- To maintain all tools and test equipment in good working order.
- To keep workshop and plant rooms clean and tidy at all times.
- Carry out the day-to day maintenance requirements of the hotel to the highest possible standard.
- Ensure plant rooms, storage areas and workshops are clean at all times.
- All work carried out is in compliance with legislative Health & Safety laws.
- Maintenance standards are to be met at all times.
- Uniform is to be worn, and polite and helpful manner portrayed towards guests and associates at all times.

**Other**:

- Performs other related tasks as assigned by management.
- Complies with Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.
- Working hours as required to do your job but normally not less than your contracted hours
- Full Apprenticeship offered by Cardiff & Vale College

Skills and Knowledge
- Strong Communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
- Pro-active and reliable
- Able to work alone and within a team
- Flexible hours in line with business needs
- Must be well presented and have excellent personal hygiene

**Education or Certification**
- Good level of English essential
