We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Head of Operations for our market leading client based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
Offering a salary package of up to £72,000, as Head of Operations, you will manage and lead operational functions to ensure effective manufacturing and production levels for customer satisfaction.
As Head of Operations you will have key skills and previous working knowledge of key elements such as Leadership, Production, Manufacturing, Engineering and Health & Safety.These will ideally be within the food industry.
The Main Duties and Responsibilities for this Head of Operations role are as follows:
- To ensure adherence to all Health and Safety policies and ensure compliance.
- Liaising with the Health and Safety Reps to monitor and develop procedures to ensure that the Company has the appropriate structures, systems and processes in place to meet its statutory Health and Safety responsibilities.
- In conjunction with the Finance team develop and manage budgets to deliver the Business plans.
- In conjunction with the Engineering function develop project plans to improve performance, these projects to be costed and any return on investment documented.
- Together with Production Controller, manage site performance statistics.
- To manage and control costs and yields.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce cost, improve utilisation and improve effectiveness.
- To manage and develop Management team members in line with HR policies.
- To work closely with the Production Manager, Engineering Manager & Head of Supply Chain to drive lean practices across site.
- To drive downtime reduction through the team to minimise losses and drive line up time.
- Compile, display and analyse data to develop solutions and projects together with reports on performance improvements.
- To support in the identification of Lean/CI training needs and ensure this is documented and controlled.
- Lead cross functional teams in identifying, implementing projects to realise cost and efficiency improvements.
- To support in the motivation, management and development of team workers.
- To identify training and development needs and liaising with all the Operations Team to ensure an effective, multi-skilled and engaged workforce is developed.
- Member of the Crisis Management Team, Contingency Team and Sustainability Team
- Chair of Employee Forum
- Responsible for ISO14001 accreditation
- To monitor and improve process & packing performance through development and an agreed capital investment plan if required.
- In conjunction with the Head of Supply Chain, maintain agreed stock level of materials and finished goods in the factory or at external warehouses to ensure full stock cover and optimized cash flow.
- To manage and control the data on plans performance, in line with forecast volumes and optimising storage of finished goods to minimise Business cost in conjunction with the Head of Supply Chain.
- Liaise with Head of Supply Chain & Operations Team to ensure all sales orders can be fulfilled in the appropriate time frame.
- To work with the Technical Manager and Head of UK Technical to ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements.
- To liaise with the Technical Manager to facilitate resource to ensure the site is in an audit ready state at all times and that documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Use SAP to monitor plan attainment and report weekly on performance compared to forecasted demand for both volume and cost.
- Through a well-managed stock system ensure all materials are controlled to allow all lines to run in accordance to production plans, whilst spotting opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Transport: To arrange and maintain the contracts with both Hauliers and Waste Management companies.
- To coordinate the safe, efficient and cost-effective deliveries and dispatch from all vehicles arriving on site. This will include the control of all waste streams.
- To liaise with the Engineering Team to plan & Prioritise work to minimise downtime and maximise use of resource.
- To coordinate with both Planning & Engineering to manage maintenance priorities and ensure these are planned to minimise production disruption.
