**SDET / Automation Test Engineer**

**Edinburgh**

**£55-70,000**

(Hybrid working, ideally 2 days a week in office)

An exciting career opportunity working as an SDET, positioned central to the development and DevOps life cycle, critical to project & service delivery, an autonomous role with room for creativity and direction setting.

Working as part of a multi-functional team you will be responsible for setting adopting and improving the organisational test strategy and best practice. Implementing test procedures and tools, evaluating new solutions and driving innovation in test alignedto Development, DevOps and the CI/CD processes.

**In the SDET role responsibilities will include**:

- Driving Best Practices; promoting QA practice in the Development teams. Work closely with Product Owners and Developers to establish good habits and routines.
- Promoting collaboration; working with DevOps and Engineers, you will assist in developing the CI/CD processes pipeline.
- Building bespoke fit for purpose test frameworks and automation routines
- Own decision making; driving the decision making around manual vs automated test cases and scripts
- Carrying out testing of web, mobile apps (iOS and Android) and APIs
- Champion Automation; design and build an automation platform that can integrate with CI/CD pipeline to improve code quality
- Carrying out analysis; collecting and analysing QA related metrics to guide the testing needs and understand where quality gates should be improved or introduced

**To be a successful SDET you will need demonstrable experience of**:

- Owning the analysis, design and development of bespoke test automation
- Stronf scripting skills
- Extensive background in Automation and Manual testing
- In-depth knowledge of Agile life-cycle and components such as Sprints, Retrospectives and Stand-ups
- Experience of API testing using Postman or similar tools
- Exposure to working strategically alongside development and DevOps colleagues
- Comfortable stepping into the decision making, tool selection, strategy defining role
- Career experience of choosing fit for purpose test approaches and plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Preference for prior experience in a start-up or scale-up environment, with the ability to operate with pace and energy matching the speed of action required in an early-stage business

The successful applicant will receive a salary linked to experience and practical knowledge ranging from £55,000 - £70,000 with a growing benefits package including pension, private healthcare, EAP program, DIS and annual leave (25days + stats)

The work environment is characterised by flexibility with regards to working hours and practices, blended between working from home and working from the office (Currently targeted at 2 days a week.)
