Salary - £55,000 - £60,000
Location - Glasgow City Centre
Working hours - 9am - 5.30pm
Working days - Monday to Friday (office based)
Our client based in Glasgow City Centre are a very successful hotel chain who are looking for an experienced Cluster Financial Controller to join their team. This position will be split between two separate sites both located in the City Centre.
Key Responsibilities for Financial Controller
- Assists in monitoring data processing and internal control systems for all functions of the department operations, including - Payroll, Utility billing, General ledger, Accounts payable and Accounts receivable
- Provide assistance to the Finance Director during the budget process Including - Prepare budgeted salary information, Assists in compiling revenue and expenditure forecasts as well as historical data Assist in supervising associates in the Finance Departmentby - Providing clear, detailed and precise verbal and written direction, Answering questions in a timely manner, Reviewing materials, reports, and work for accuracy
- Coordinate monthly bank statement reconciliations and cash balances
- Assist in ensuring payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring accurate accruals and necessary deductions
- Ensure that department reports are accurate (i.e., costs are properly matched to revenue, costs are recorded in the proper accounts) and statements are delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner
- Be able to produce a P&L for the Hotels as and when requested
- Manage reconciliation of Balance Sheet, verifying prime records and reporting accordingly
- Manage debtors limits and review every quarter
- Assist in the management of the debtors meetings and lead when necessary
- Maintain a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability and manage business risks
- Assist in the management of internal, external and regulatory audit processes
- Ensures tax rates used for sales/use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued
- Manage the reconciliation of all bank accounts and take ownership of all challenges and processes involved
- Ensure compliance with standard and operating procedures and GAAP
- Ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with good practise
- Review audit issues and makes corrections as necessary
- Ensures that regular on-going communication occurs with associates to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations, and recognise performance
- Celebrate successes by publicly recognising the contributions of team members
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and GAAP
- Assist in the management of technology and effectively uses information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide managers with analytical support to drive decision-making
- Assist in the management of creditors reconciliation and monitors such
- Manage the Revenue forecast process in line with department objectives and comparisons thereof
- Provide excellent leadership
- Participate in the associate performance appraisal process, providing feedback as needed
- Attend all necessary meetings to and deputises for the DOF where applicable
- Advises the Director of Finance on existing and evolving operating/financial issues
