Here at Serco we’re looking for a Therapeutic Community (TC) Psychology Lead to join us at HMP Dovegate. Joining our onsite team at this category B prison, you’ll play a key role in delivering Psychological Services to community.
As a Principal Psychologist, you will have overall responsibility for governance and delivery of Psychology on the TC, as well as strategically leading and developing the delivery, as part of a whole TC delivery. You will work closely with and provide consultancy to colleagues such as the TC Senior Management Team (SMT) in area of Forensic Psychology. The job holder other key accountabilities include:
Governance and responsibility for the Psychology delivery in the TC audits.
Oversight of Psychology Parole directions for all residents on TC ensuring all reports are completed within deadlines.
Oversee relevant research being conducted on the TC including data gathering, analysis and presentation of results at national and international conferences.
Provide a Forensic Psychological perspective into the referral process regarding selection to the TC.
Governance and development of the preliminary TC assessments and developing psychological/ educational approached to introduce residents to TC and build motivation and resilience.
Provide professional supervision of Forensic Psychologists in Training (FPiT) including Co-ordinating Supervision to ensure that FPiTs are able to develop through the steps towards chartered and/or registered status.
What you’ll need to do the role
First and foremost, you will have Chartered status with the British Psychological Society, be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and have significant experience post-qualification.
As you’ll be leading a team of Forensic Psychologists, you’ll need to have previous management experience and be able to bring a collaborative approach to your work with them and the wider TC staff.
You will possess awareness and some understanding of psychodynamic theory and group therapy and should be familiar with literature underpinning democratic Therapeutic Communities and the principles of psychotherapy. You should possess experience of working on a Therapeutic Community. Lastly, you should have experience of conducting a range of Psychological assessments including PCL-r, WAIS, SARA, HCR-20, SARN, SRA, RSVP.
