The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement (DARR) Directorate is a new organisation set up to manage the process for supporting eligible Afghans who supported the UK mission in Afghanistan over the past 20 years to come to the UK, and once here to be assisted to begin their new lives with their families. It is important and rewarding work, supporting one of Defence’s highest priorities and reports directly into the Permanent Secretary.

All jobs within DARR will be predominantly based at MOD Main Building, with some roles requiring greater office attendance than others.

**Job description**

The Relocations Casework team work to bring those individuals found eligible under the criteria of the scheme across to the UK. This involves gathering various information from those found eligible to make the necessary arrangements and overcome various complexities to ensure safe passage to the UK. This can involve working with other government departments and working with in-country colleagues.

The Relocations Review team work to ensure the ARAP scheme is applied effectively and consistently and are required to reassess decisions made where a review has been formally requested. This involves considering various policy changes, details provided by applicant’s to inform an eligibility decision and a robust consideration of policy being applied effectively to deliver a fair outcome to the applicant.

Due to the nature of DARR individuals are empowered to take these decisions autonomously, therefore confidence assessing against policy is key.

**As a Caseworker, your main responsibilities would be**:

- Scrutinising and investigating requests for review and determine the appropriate response
- Managing and assessing cases in alignment with policy, operating procedures and guidance
- Communicating with applicants to obtain additional information/evidence that may affect the outcome of their review
- Organising and leading review panels
- Responding accurately to applicants to inform them of the outcome of their query
- Internal Liaison with respective DARR teams such as Eligibility and Relocations Casework
- Providing SME advice to external agencies regarding the end-to-end process
- Delivering the MoD parts of cross Whitehall Hall review policy for the ARAP scheme
- Representing the Review Team at internal management meetings
- Maintaining accurate records of decisions and evidence to support those decisions
- Adhering to and ensuring that others are complying with the wider DARR governance and data protection protocols

**You’ll have relevant Qualification/ Skills/ Experience in**:

- Active SC Clearance** (Desirable)**:

- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role; as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks
