South Kensington, United Kingdom Victoria and Albert Museum Full time

The Archives section of the V&A is responsible for institutional records and archives management and for archive collections - principally the Archive of Art and Design and Theatre and Performance archives, together with the archive collections of Young V&A. Occupying over 8km of shelving, the collections encompass archives of over 1000 individuals and organisations relating to art, design, performance and the history of the museum. This is an exciting time to join the team, following the merger in 2021 of the integrated Archives Section and the National Art Library under the V&A Research Institute. The new department is responsible for research programmes, and for facilitating and enhancing access to the V&A’s archival and library research resources.

We are seeking a Senior Archivist to lead the Archives section, taking leadership responsibility for records management and institutional archives at the V&A, and for the development, care and documentation of, research into and provision of access to the V&A’s Archive holdings. This is a senior role within the V&A Research, NAL and Archives team, joining us at a moment of considerable change, with the V&A currently working towards the creation of two new sites in Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, one of which (the V&A Storehouse) will house and make accessible the V&A’s Archive Collections.
