JOB TITLE: Tenant Support Worker / Housing Concierge
**About Us**
Established in 1999 we are a registered charity based in Hexham Northumberland providing supported short-term accommodation for homeless adults. We not only provide accommodation but also support to help residents address those support needs that led, or contributed to, homelessness. By providing or facilitating activities and training programmes we help people begin the steps needed to re-build their life. We recognise that to have a home is not just about having a roof over one’s head but is a place to feel safe and secure with a sense of stability and ‘belonging’. By providing a high standard of accommodation and individual support to each person, we aim to begin the process of building that self-esteem and providing a feeling of security from the moment an individual enters our service.
**The Role**
The challenges are many for the people we support, from tackling addiction to learning basic living skills; from finding employment to getting a home of their own. As a Tenant Support Worker, your role is key in helping an individual achieve their goals.
The accommodation service is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you will also provide an on-site presence during evening, night and early morning hours. This is to ensure the safety and security of the building and occupants.
Key Result Areas
- To deliver either high quality housing and housing support services or tenancy support services as per the client group needs.
- To actively seek to empower service users to gain and maintain control over all aspects of their lives.
- To act as a link worker for a specified number of service users. Implement and review support plans facilitating service users to lead the process. Where appropriate, work with service user advocates and/or representatives from other agencies to co-ordinate an integrated support package.
- Recognise the service user’s strengths, abilities and skills and seek to encourage their development and use.
- Assist the service user to access activities and facilities within the community where that meets the goals jointly identified in the support plans.
- Facilitate service user access to advocacy services and where agreed, act as an advocate on their behalf in relation to issues identified in the support plan.
- To work closely with external agencies involved in individual support packages.
