Payroll Officer

**Overview**
**Responsibilities**
- Lead, manage, and develop the payroll to ensure accurate and efficient payroll service in compliance with statutory, national and local policies.
- Calculate and ensure timely payment of taxes to HMRC, including PAYE, NIC and relevant levies.
- Accurately calculate and deduct statutory and other payroll deductions, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations.
- Maintain strong relationships with all pension providers, manage monthly pension processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with pension legislation.
- Prepare monthly payroll journals and accounts reconciliations for management reporting.
- Calculate monthly wages accrual for hourly paid staff.
- Provide payroll and pension data to external auditors for year-end audit.
- Report on headcount.
- P11D submission, P45's and P60's.
- Ensuring employee records are maintained and up to date.
- Update and maintain policies, procedures, and practices to ensure legal compliance and best practice, including maintaining staff handbook.
- Manage payroll assistant
- Ensure HR policies are kept up to date
- Ensure HR compliance is continually reviewed and kept up to date
- Advise on changes in payroll / HR legislation and the impact on the business
- Monitor employee sick leave and ensure procedures are in place to minimise sick leave
- Ad hoc tasks to assist the department.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience in a payroll, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll software. ADP / Sage would be an added benefit.
- Ideally experienced in implementing new systems.
- Experience of a Time in Attendance system
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all aspects of payroll processing.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data and generate reports effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with employees at all levels regarding payroll matters.
