Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity?

Masterclass are delighted to be working alongside a lovely specialist school on the outskirts of the Brighton and Hove area, who are recruiting for a full time SEN Classroom Assistant. In this role, you will be working with children in the form of 1:1 or in small group sessions. We are looking for people with patience, resilience and empathy to provide the best support and outcomes for these young people.

The staff have a true passion to ensure every child’s time at the school is exhilarating, Positive and a true learning experience. Every child has a skills based curriculum unique to them, this personalised learning builds on their individual skills and aids them to stay engaged whilst still enjoying their learning experience.

Prior experience with students with complex needs is preferred but not essential as support and training will be offered.

Job role:

- To support the children’s development across all areas of their education
- Support and encourage positive behaviour management
- Work with groups of children or individuals (1-1) to support the class teachers in specific lessons.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment enabling pupils to feel relaxed and happy
- To establish positive relationships with the children and staff within the school
- To be committed to inclusive practice and making sure every child has the chance to be the best they can be

Must:

- You must be passionate, caring and resilient
- Show a positive can-do attitude
- Be full of energy
- Be highly motivated and committed to providing children with additional support
- Offer outstanding classroom presence
- Show commitment to safeguarding
- Promote good behaviour in line with school policies
- Be proactive, determined and understanding to each child’s development
- Have a valid DBS on the updates service or be willing to obtain one

**Must have**:

- Ability to work well independently and as a team
- Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
- A DBS on the Updates Service, or be willing to obtain one
- Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
