Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board We are looking for an enthusiastic Foundation Year 1 Doctor for the following rotations to start as soon as possible: Rotations Available COTE 02 Aug to 05 Dec > Respiratory 07 Dec to 02 Apr > General Surgery 03 Apr to 01 Aug ED 02 Aug to 05 Dec > Respiratory 07 Dec to 02 Apr > Breast Surgery 03 Apr to 01 Aug Breast Surgery 02 Aug to 05 Dec > ED 07 Dec to 02 Apr > Respiratory 03 Apr to 01 Aug Cardiology 07 Dec to 02 Apr > General Surgery 03 Apr to 01 Aug Upper GI 02 Aug to 05 Dec > COTE 06 Dec to 02 Apr > Renal 03 Apr to 01 Aug Full GMC registration with a licence to practice is essential. The Foundation Year 1 will be expected to participate in ward rounds, clinics and in the operating theatre. The junior doctor accepts that he/she will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with his colleagues, both senior and junior. A full programme of activities is held in the Postgraduate Medical Centres at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Ysbyty Gwynedd and Wrexham Maelor Hospital, including evening lectures (during winter/spring) and combined rounds which are held throughout the year. The programme also includes staff clinical conferences, tutorials, discussion and journal club meetings and symposiums and films on medical and allied matters. A comprehensive and up to date medical library has been developed together with a first class inter-library exchange system. Educational standards are consistently high in both the primary and secondary sectors. Extensive use is made of computing facilities and other up-to-date learning methods. Within Clwyd the major academic institution is the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education which caters for the needs of some 14,000 full and part-time students. The Health Authority has strong links with the Institute and has collaborated in the establishment of Health Studies Unit.
