**Public Affairs Executive, Asda**

You will be working on a broad range of policy areas at a busy time for Asda, with exposure to different experts across the business.These include the biggest issues of the day, like supporting our customer, colleagues and communities through the cost-of-livingcrisis; tackling Climate Change and reducing waste; and helping customers make healthier choices to reduce obesity.

The role is based in our Leeds Home Office but will include occasional travel to support visits to stores across England and Wales.

You will advise on proactive communications to highlight our work in the communities we serve, including our response to the cost-of-living crisis and ESG programme. You will also be responsible for responding to casework from MPs on a range of issues, engagingwith colleagues in store and experts around the business to find solutions to their queries.

**Your role**
- You will be a key member of a small team, responsible for providing comprehensive support on UK politics, devolved assemblies and local government, so each member is fully equipped to focus on strategic planning, risk management of policy issues and relationshipbuilding.
- You will monitor the outputs of Whitehall, Westminster, regional assemblies and other key stakeholders, providing an early warning system to the team and Asda experts on issues of relevance to the business.
- You will coordinate a political engagement programme with MPs and other key public affairs stakeholders, including planning and organising store visits.
- You will prepare responses to casework and correspondence from MPs and local councillors.
- You will support the team at meetings, conferences and events by preparing briefings, attending alongside them when relevant and provide ad hoc research and analysis on key policy areas.
- You will act as an effective central, coordinating administrative function for the team, including maintaining central databases for correspondence, support on team budget administration and working with the finance team on payments. Budget training willbe provided.

**About You**
- You'll be able to demonstrate an interest and understanding of politics and public affairs
- Have some experience of working in a public affairs environment (e.g. for an MP, council, government department or charity)
- Be able to research, understand and summarise issues quickly and accurately
- Have strong organisational and coordinating skills and an excellent eye for detail
- Be a proactive self-starter with a willingness to perform a range of tasks
- Have the ability to work with mínimal supervision and sometimes without frequent contact from other team members
