**The Resourcing Hub are currently recruiting for a Senior Residential Child Care Officer to join our client's new home in the Sunderland area It's a new home due to open so this is a very exciting opportunity**

36 or 48 hour contract, flexible with shifts covering 7 days a week day and night (Unless youjust want waking night then we would agree this) Current £11 per hour plus sleep in allowance £54.

28 days holiday, free use of a local hotel gym / spa and occasional vouchers as a thank you.

**Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Officer**

**Reports to: Deputy Manager / Registered Manager**

**Job Purpose**:
To contribute to all aspects of the physical and emotional care of the children whilst working in partnership with the family, school and other professionals. To lead the shift and to take responsibility for the day to day running of the home in the absence of the House Manager/Deputy. To provide a positive professional role model, sharing experience and expertise with all staff.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To work across a 24 hour shift pattern which will necessitate attendance at work during day shift, evening shift, sleep in duties and waking nights.
- To be available to undertake oncall for advice, guidance and emergency situations.
- To take appropriate action to ensure there is sufficient staff coverage at all levels, within the

agreed limits, to maintain the efficient and safe running of the home.
- To direct and lead other staff teams during a shift and assign duties to all those present ensuring the high standards of the service are maintained. To assume responsibility for the operation of the home when acting as shift leader. Take the lead in decision making, ensure paperwork is completed to the required standards, and ensure effective handovers take place.
- To ensure a high standard of emotional and physical care for the young people at all times, promoting positive outcomes.
- To ensure all staff work comply and work within young peoples care plans, behaviour plans, medical plans, risk assessments and any other relevant plans.
- To ensure all paperwork and administrative records are completed for each shift.
- To ensure that leisure activities are provided for all young people in line with their wishes, abilities and planners.
- To work in accordance with the Quality Standards and Childrens homes regulations.
- To establish and promote effective, professional relationships with parents and outside agencies
- To assist the home manager / deputy in the development of the team and individuals to enhance their performance through supervision, support and performance management.
- To ensure the protection of young people from abuse; evaluate the risk to young people, failure to protect, and harm to self or others, and ensure that all matters are reported and responded in line with the safeguarding policy.
- To promote equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities and develop, maintain and evaluate systems to promote them.
- To ensure the finances are documented and accounted for
- To ensure the coordination and collation of any reports in line with Looked After reviews, Care team meetings and Annual Reviews.
- To attend any meetings relevant to the post.
- To continue to develop ones own knowledge and practice and attend all necessary training courses provided by the organisation. Linked to performance management
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may arise under the direction of the Home Manager/Deputy.
