Forensic Practitioner

Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a thoughtful, skilled and knowledgeable practitioner to join the Forensic Outreach Liaison Service (FOLS). The post covers Hull, East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service (FOLS) works to reduce or safely manage behaviour amongst people with a learning disability (LD) and/or autism which may put members of the public at risk and would otherwise lead to contact with the criminal justice system or admission to a secure hospital.

This is delivered through the six core functions of the service:

- Forensic risk assessment and management.
- Offence specific therapeutic interventions and treatments.
- Case management.
- Training to internal & external agencies.
- Consultation.
- In-reach to ensure safe and timely discharge.

We are looking for a thoughtful, reflective practitioner who is able to build meaningful therapeutic relationships with clients, carers and providers. The post holder will develop good working relationships within mainstream Learning Disability services and other partnership organisations across various sectors.

The post holder will have a good understanding of approaches to supporting clients with complex needs in inpatient and community settings, and will provide training, consultation and interventions related to this. This includes working closely with families and carers.

The Forensic Practitioner holds a caseload of clients and supports their pathways out of secure settings into the community, and also supports individuals in the community to try and prevent contact with the criminal justice system or secure services. The post requires significant skill in professional liaison, diplomacy and communication.

We are an award winning and CQC rated good health and social care Trust that delivers care to communities in Hull, East Yorkshire, Scarborough and Ryedale and Whitby.
