**SQL Database Administrator/Engineer - Strong Coding (Python, Powershell) - Automation - Cloud**
Prestigious global financial services client is looking for a SQL DBA/Engineer with strong database administration and data modelling knowledge, as well as development and programming skills to join their team on a permanent basis. Automation mindset iskey for this role and a basic understanding of financial markets and trade lifecycles is a big plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, install, configure, and manage enterprise database systems both on premise and in the cloud
- Enhance and enforce best practices and standards for Database Development
- Enhance and enforce standards for Data Protection, Retention, and Security
- Optimize data access processes and troubleshoot performance and data availability issues for all systems
- Engineer solutions and automation for storage-based data refreshes and integrations with our meta data repository, CMDB and monitoring tools
- Support all production systems including database maintenance, monitoring backups, query performance and DB release management
- Establish reporting strategy and solutions for traditional and mobile use cases
- Research and evaluate new database tools and technologies for data warehouse and big data use cases
Skills and experience required:
- Experience managing medium/large enterprise SQL Server database systems
- Advanced level knowledge of SQL Server features, functionality, and performance optimization techniques
- Deep experience building and enforcing standards around how data is modeled, managed, and protected as a critical firm asset
- Strong experience with data modeling, T-SQL, and creating and tuning Stored Procedures, Functions, SSIS Packages, etc.
- Strong coding experience in Python, PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Strong experience with reporting strategies and solutions such as SSRS, PowerBI, and Tableau
- Understanding of cloud database implementations in AWS and Azure
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Git source control
- Knowledge and experience with cloud database technology such as Microsoft Synapse and Snowflake
- Knowledge and experience with open-source databases such as PostgreSQL and mySQL
