Deputy Vice-chancellor and Provost

Over the 60 years since the foundation of the University of Sussex, we have consistently sought to offer an alternative to the traditional higher education landscape. We pioneered the notion of interdisciplinarity, and forged ahead in new fields, such as cognitive science, as well as developing a diverse and broad-based curriculum. We are now a community that includes more than 19,000 students, and have established a global reputation - 151st in QS World Rankings - with more than 89 per cent of our research recognised as world leading or internationally recognised. We’re also in the top 50 of universities globally delivering on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

In an exciting period of development, we are looking to appoint an inspiring Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost (DVC&P) to support in leading the University, working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and other key staff. The DVC&P will develop and ensure delivery of the University’s academic vision and strategy, covering structures, resourcing, goals and achievement and academic capital planning, and will deputise for the Vice-Chancellor in all areas of the University’s work as needed.
