**About Us**

Blaydon Youth & Community Centre (BYCC) is a vibrant, welcoming hub at the heart of our community. We offer a wide range of activities for all ages — from toddler and youth clubs to social groups, events, and our friendly community café.

We’re looking for enthusiastic **Centre Assistants** to join our dedicated team and help keep our busy centre running smoothly. This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same — perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, taking pride in their work, and making a real difference in their local area.

**About the Role**

As a Centre Assistant, you’ll play a key part in making sure the centre is safe, welcoming, and well-organised. Your responsibilities will include:

- Greeting and assisting visitors, providing excellent customer service.
- Supporting café operations — taking orders, handling payments, and preparing drinks and light snacks.
- Setting up and clearing away rooms for community activities and events.
- Assisting with cleaning and maintenance to keep the building safe, tidy, and inviting.
- Helping with bookings, basic admin, and occasional social media updates.
- Getting involved in community events and activities as part of the wider BYCC team.

- Friendly, approachable, and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Able to work well as part of a team and on their own initiative.
- Organised, adaptable, and confident communicating with people from all backgrounds.
- Flexible with working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

**Special Skills (Desirable)**

We’d especially love to hear from people with any of the following experience:

- **Youth work** or community engagement.
- **Café or food preparation** skills.
- **Cleaning or maintenance** experience.
- **Activity delivery,**such as sports, arts and crafts, forestry, or anything else.
