Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate in applied algebraic geometry/computational commutative algebra/algebraic statistics in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. The post is available from 1 st September for a 36 months fixed-term, full-time contract with a potential 6 month extension.

The position is funded through the Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship project “Pure Mathematics for Statistical inference,” of Dimitra Kosta. This project will further develop connections between algebra, geometry and statistics in the directions of singular learning theory, phylogenetic algebraic geometry and algebraic combinatorics (in particular concerning unimodular toric ideals, toric fibre products and Markov bases).
