**About the role**
Would you like to join a world-leading construction and infrastructure business? This is your chance to join our team and become part of our success. We have a fantastic opportunity for a **Section Engineer** to join our talented **Highways Team** on the **M1/M62 CSB scheme in Leeds.** We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team and help us deliver a successful project. This role will see you providing management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers & Foremen.
**What you'll be doing**
- Motivate section team and manage performance, monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/ coaching as appropriate
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance.
- Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s
- Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan.
- Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering / review.
- Appraises improvement options and actions / instigates as appropriate.
- Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register.
- Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System.
- Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team.
- Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability
- Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings.
- Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate.
- Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works.
- Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme.
- Chairs prescribed Short Interval Control section meetings to review performance on site.
- Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas and allocates / implements appropriate actions to team members.
**Who we're looking for**
- Degree qualified, Civil Engineering.
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately.
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded.
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights as required by the programme.
- Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
- SMSTS qualified
